How to think about the Night Owl Score

The Night Owl Score is a value between 0 and 100 calculated from the previous night’s data (9pm – 6am). A score of 0 means there was no motion, and a score of 100 means there was frequent and/or excessive movement. A Night Owl Score notification can be set using a pre-set threshold or an increase from baseline.

Increased Pain #

Pain can cause increased night activity and sleep disruption. By identifying this activity through the Night Owl Score, interventions can be made, and pain addressed.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) #

A change from baseline of the Night Owl Score could indicate an infection. Frequent trips to the bathroom at night register as an increase in the Night Owl Score.

Cognitive Change #

Sleep disturbances may be an indicator of cognitive decline or dementia. Monitoring and addressing night activity helps to identify changes in cognitive function and reduce the risk of falls and injury.
